Course Outline
Open Days: Hands-on and live-op course on orthodontic mini-implants
The introduction of mini-implants into orthodontic practice has undoubtedly meant a change in existing paradigms: from pushing the limits that orthodontic treatments had, to modifying certain biomechanical protocols. Through their simplicity and correct usage, they can bring benefits to both the physician and the patient.
The course aims to provide clear and proven clinical protocols to colleagues for the insertion and use of skeletal anchorage, which can expand their therapeutic tools and be put into practice immediately upon returning to the office.
The curriculum includes:
- Biological principles in the application of mini-implants
- Choosing the insertion site and type of mini-implant
- Clinical protocol for inserting mini-implants: analog and digitally guided
- Loading mini-implants: direct and indirect anchorage; sagittal, transverse, and vertical corrections. Case discussions.
- Management of complications and failures; tips and tricks
- Hands-on: inserting mini-implants in the pig mandible and models; building the indirect anchorage unit; constructing distalization and uprighting mechanical elements in direct anchorage on models
- Live-op: application of palatal and interradicular mini-implant systems guided and unguided on patients.
